PLAYING WITH LEGO

The giant Minifigure and me at the LEGO Campus

In 2022 I was invited, together with other 24 designers from all over the world, to go to Billund in Denmark and be part of a LEGO Designer Workshop, where only a few lucky ones would fulfill the dream of becoming a LEGO Designer.

In a crazy couple of days, I had an incredible adventure, made a lot of new friends, did some interviews and worked on creative assignments, but unfortunately, I did not get offered a job position at that time.

However, I felt really thankful and honored to be considered. And I received great feedback from the recruiters and was encouraged to keep trying.

That life-changing experience reignited my love for LEGO.

LEGO DOTS - Unicorn Desk Lamp

I have currently been selected three times for interviews at LEGO. In 2021 I applied for a LEGO Designer position on the LEGO DOTS team.

I received some sets from LEGO and I had to Design a new LEGO DOTS product for an 11-year-old kid named Jasmine, who loves pizza, cats, music, and to re-organize her bedroom every week.

I wanted to create something useful and colorful, with a cute character, that could also be used for self-expression, which is a key element of the LEGO DOTS experience, so I decided to design a Unicorn Desk Lamp that you can see below.

Lego BrickHeadz - Jorel's Brother

I am a big fan of Jorel's Brother, a successful and really funny Brazilian TV series from Copa Studio and Cartoon Network.

Just as a creative exercise, I wanted to see these unique characters added to the LEGO BrickHeadz collection, so I decided to try and create them myself.

I first posted the images on my Instagram and other social media, and the response from fans was so great that, by their request, I ended up putting the project on Lego Ideas.

I never intended for this to be a serious Lego project, far from it. My creative thought process was “What would LEGO never do?” and the beloved (but local) Brazilian TV show was the answer.

My humble weekend creative project is now backed by animators, voice actors, and directors of the show. And both Copa Studio and Cartoon Network often post about it on their official channels.

I feel very lucky! I built them with a lot of love, and I could never imagine the proportion it took.

10-Brick LEGO Challenge

I strongly believe that limitations promote creativity.

As a creative exercise, I challenged myself to build with LEGO starting from one brick, then two, three.... going up to ten pieces only.

The result is this video that was a huge success on my social media accounts (650.000 views on my TikTok).

OTHER STUFF

Below you will find some other LEGO projects I created for my social media and/or LEGO contests.
